Today, on this election day—and on this 57th American presidential election—I have some hope.
I hope that we'll remember to vote for something and not just against someone. I hope we'll remember to respect values, even those values that are different from ours—and I also hope that we'll remember to respect the people who hold those different values. As we watch the states take on red or blue throughout the day, I hope we'll remember to focus on the things that unite us, rather than those that divide us. I hope we'll remember that a president does not define America, but rather, we define America, all of us, together, as we live out love, day in and day out. Most of all, I hope we'll remember to have hope.
