Sunflowers are one of those things that say summer to me. This past weekend, I was excited when I saw that the weather was going to cool down. So given the cloudy, comfortable temps we made our way out to our favorite, local pick-your-own-flowers farm, Burnside Farms. The fields were in bloom and it turned out to be a perfect, late summer day. Ryan grabbed a basket at the front entrance, and made his way through the rows of sunflowers. Noticing the differences between them, in their height and color too; selecting the flowers that he wanted me to clip and bring home. Connor ran through the rows, eager as always, to get to the next thing. I tried to slow my mind down, enjoying these moments with Ryan, my little boy who is becoming more of a companion every day, and who is surprising me with his perceptiveness and creativity. Once our basket was full, the boys let out some energy in the play area, climbing on a tractor, jumping in a bounce house and going down a massive slide.
